Lent and Easter at
Temple UMC, SF
March 02 - April 17 2022
A liberal, diverse community full of hope and compassion, devoted to Jesus and committed to justice.
Our Sunday and weekly prayer services are geared to worshippers of all ages. Coming together as a community strengthens and guides us in our daily life. For those who wish to join us, our congregation is always waiting with open hearts.
We live in a culture bent on definitions of a good life as continuous upward mobility–climbing ladders of prosperity with increasingly fabulous experiences that we can post to ever-more-likable social media accounts. We may comb the shelves of the self-help section in search of just the right formula to gain success. Perhaps we even gravitate towards spiritual leaders who promise great rewards if we only do “the right thing.” But life happens, right? Most times we are not moving upward but trying to repair the rung we’ve just slipped from. So what if we stopped climbing and started fertilizing, watering, and blooming right where we find ourselves? Welcome to a Lent of affirming a faith in which we are blessed, regardless, and where we can lean into embracing our “good enough” lives. 1
MEET OUR STAFF
REV. DR. KELLEY O'CONNOR
Temple feeds 400 families a week at our food pantry, Wednesday afternoons 4-6:30 PM.
We receive our food from the San Francisco Food Pantry 2-3 in the afternoon and our wonderful volunteers prepare it to be picked up safely by our patrons. We wear gloves, masks, maintain safe spacing, wash our hands and everything else often!
If you are hungry or know of someone who is, please send them to 65 Beverly Street on Wednesday afternoon and we will see to it that they get food.
We are all in this together. No one needs to be hungry in San Francisco.
We Need Volunteers!
If you are under 60, have your own safe mask, and would like to volunteer we would love a little extra help! Many of our regular volunteers are over 60 and have been asked to stay home.
Be and Do
This is a worship experience of reconciliation, not just between individuals, but between the church and world, between economic status, between races, between orientations.
Let’s tear down what divides and invite all into the discipleship journey so that we can be forgiven and transformed.
